MASSERIA MONTELAURO
Set in the quiet, peaceful countryside surrounded by farmland, this Masseria (farmhouse) is in a great location, 10-minutes by car from the lovely, ancient town of Otranto where you’ll find great restaurants and shops. The beach is also a 10-minute drive away.
The Masseria was a former farm complex and has been renovated to a high standard whilst remaining sympathetic to its heritage.
It has a lovely white exterior and it’s beautifully decorated in neutral tones with barrel vaulted ceilings.
The rooms are very comfortable - we had a Junior Suite on the ground floor which was spacious and had direct access to the gardens and swimming pool.
All of the staff were welcoming and helpful, especially when it came to booking restaurants and beach clubs.
The general atmosphere in the Masseria is very relaxed, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delectable, complimentary snacks they served every evening for aperitivo outside in the garden. This is also a lovely way to meet and chat with other guests staying in the hotel.
The swimming pool is large and set in a beautiful grassed area filled with olive trees and flowers. There is plenty of outdoor seating and chairs for relaxing poolside.
The restaurant uses local produce and was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. We ate a delicious breakfast here every morning and enjoyed dining here on two evenings during our stay - the food, ambience and service was outstanding!
