OTTANTOTTO FIRENZE, FLORENCE, ITALY
STAY
ottantotto FIRENZE, florence
The magnificent city of Florence is without doubt one of my favourites in Italy. It has a fairytale quality to it and every time I visit I feel like I’ve stepped back in time. It’s also easy to explore on foot, visually beautiful with its incredible architecture and very stylish.
It can become very crowded with tourists so if you’re in need of a quiet, relaxing sanctuary in which to escape, then book yourself a room here at the charming ‘Ottantotto Firenze’.
This stunning 14th century house has a long and colourful history - it’s been home to a bakers workshop, a nobleman’s home and a philanthropic institution. Recently it’s been reincarnated as a stylish boutique hotel.
Set over 4 floors, there are only 7 rooms and suites - all beautifully renovated and decorated with antique décor, contemporary touches, floral accents on the wallpaper and headboards, thick stone walls and beamed ceilings.
There is a charming living area on the ground floor overlooking the lovely, paved courtyard garden. The delicious breakfasts are served here every morning and you can sit inside or out depending on the weather.
Located in the hip neighbourhood of Oltrano which lies south of the river Arno, this is a wonderful location. There are excellent restaurants, bars and boutique shops nearby, and although you’re slightly out of the centre of Florence, it is an easy 1.5 km walk to the Duomo. The stunning Boboli gardens are also a short walk from here.
With impeccable, helpful service from the wonderful staff, I’m definitely checking in here next time I visit Florence.
